'Ozark Family Campmeeting' in Gentry to begin next week

— Daniel Jackson, president of the North American Division of Seventh-day Adventists, Gary Gibbs, of HOPE TV, and Dr. John Clark, MD, of Loma Linda School of Medicine, will be keynote speakers at the sixteenth annual Ozark Family Camp meeting, planned for the week of May 31 to June 4.

The opening session of camp meeting will be held at 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 31, under the big tent on the grounds of Ozark Adventist Academy in Gentry and all meetings are open to the public.

Gary Gibbs, of HOPE TV, will be the keynote speaker the first three nights. Daniel Jackson, President of the North American Division, will be speaking Friday night at 7:00 p.m. and again Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m.

Jackson guides the work of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in North America from its Silver Spring, Maryland, headquarters. He serves on more than 100 hospital, school, and organization boards operated by the church and lends leadership to mission, evangelism, educational, and humanitarian strategies.

Jackson was appointed by the church’s 246-member Nominating Committee and confirmed by the General Conference Session delegation, which is an international body of 2,410 appointed members and the highest governing body in the church.

Jackson is a native Canadian and, with the exception of five years of service in the Southern Asia Division, has lived and ministered in Canada. He is a graduate of Canadian Union College (now Canadian University College) and Andrews University, from which he holds an M.A. in Religion in Systematic Theology.

During his career, Jackson has served the church as a pastor, teacher and administrator. Jackson and his wife Donna enjoy their three children and four grandchildren the Lord has given them.

Also at the Ozark Family Camp meeting, beginning at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday morning, Dr. John Clark, MD from Loma Linda University School of Medicine,will be teaching a class on how to prevent and treat illness using natural remedies and lifestyle changes. Cooking demonstrations will be given by G.W. Chew, the Executive Chef, who has developed Better than Meat delicious meatless entrees and Guilt Free Desserts and Lonnie Carbaugh, Licensed Professional Counselor from the Lifestyle Center of America, will be presenting the Full Plate Diet Weight Loss Program. Seminars run from Wednesday to Friday.

Come with your whole family; children’s programs will be available June 1-4. Programs include singing, crafts and Bible lessons, as well as field trips to the Safari, aquatic center and other fun locations.
