— Quilt entries for Grove’s 2011 Quilt Show, to be held July 2, 3 and 4, are being sought by the Grand Lake O’the Cherokees Quilt Guild. Entry forms are due June 1 with actual drop off of quilts on June 30. Quilt entries are open to anyone and quilts may have been made by someone other than the exhibitor.

The show will take place at the Grove Community Center, 104 W. Third, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily except Monday when closing is at 3 p.m. Admission is $4.00, 12 and under free.

Proceeds from this show and the donation quiltdrawing help to provide assistance to a number of community organizations and to help further the art of quilting through classes and workshops of the guild.

The quilt show will be judged by Alice McElwain of Bella Vista, Ark., with ribbons awarded to the top three places in each category and cash awards of $100 each for Best of Show and Viewer’s Choice. Honorable Mention awards will be awarded at the discretion of the judge. There will be a nonrefundable fee of $3.00 per quilt for non GLOCQ guild members, fee waived for students.

Special events includea small quilt live auction with Clint Cunningham Sunday, July 3, beginning at 2 p.m. and a donation quilt drawing July 4 at 3 p.m. In addition to approximately 100 quilts the quilt show will have door prizes, saleable items in the GLOC “Boutique” along with consignment items by members and a variety of vendors.
