Foster earns award

Decatur graduate 'All-American Scholar Athlete'

— Kaci Foster, a 2008 graduate of Decatur High School, was the only student from the University of the Ozarks to earn the title of 2011 National Fast Pitch Coaches Association All-American Scholar Athlete.

Over 4,000 student-athletes representing 707 different academic institutions were named All-American athletes, the association announced last month.

The award was given to players submitted by member coaches, and recipients were required to have a 3.5 grade point average or higher during the 2010-11 academic year. Teams with the highest overall GPAs also receive recognition from the association.

Foster was also one of three University of the Ozarks softball players named to the 2011 spring American Southwest Conference All-Academic Team.

To be eligible for the honors, students-athletes must have lettered in the 2011 season, be in at least their second academic year at the institution and carry a grade point average of 3.0 or better.

Foster, who has majored in economics, was also recognized for her academic achievements by being named to the University of Ozarks dean's list. She is set to graduate this spring.
