Maysville E.H. Club members met at the Maysville community center for the October meeting.

Gwen Singleton was the hostess for the lunch. The meeting was called to order by president Orpha Wardlaw and the pledge of allegiance given. The president welcomed our guest.

Orpha gave a devotional reading entitled, “The town I planned to hate,” and Gwen had an amusing reading called “Confusion.” Melinda Crawley led the group song “High Hopes.”

Two helpful hints were given: Sew a piece of tape to your purse with Velcro sewed to the end of the tape. Attach your keys to this for easy finding. Also, if you want the onion flavor without the work, just push the onion through a lemon squeezer and use the juice.

Berti Ray gave a very interesting lesson on exercises.

She demonstrated several and talked of the benefits of the exercise. She also stressed the importance of stretching. She encouraged everyone to do more and have fun doing it.

Roll call was answered with an unforgettable costume we wore. Ten members and one guest were present.

The community Thanksgiving dinner will be Nov. 12, which is a week early this year. The club will supply the meat, bread and drinks. The community is invited and asked to bring side dishes. Serving will begin at 6 p.m.

Berti Ray donated some quilt blocks to the club which will be used to make into a quilt at a later date. On Nov. 3 the club will meet and wash the window blinds. Gwen donated fabric for new kitchen curtains which will be made soon.

Melinda Crawley drew the quarter package. The meeting was closed with the benediction.
