OPINION? EVERYBODY HAS ONE

Looking for bright spots in winter

What about the weather here? It is the most perfect fall weather a feller could ever ask for except my water holes are still lacking. And most of the neighbors are too.

We are gonna be in a big mess if we go into the winter without full ponds and hay costing an arm and leg to boot!

The members of the round table are a talkingbunch, and the palaver about the weather is knee deep these days. Ben is the lead and he can spread it thick and he does. He is afraid if he stops ranting about it, it will change for the worse! I have to agree with his descriptions and so do the others. I drank two cups of coffee this morning and never heard a foul word about this weather the whole time!

Some of the fellers have already broke out their Carharts for the winter. The jackets left at the coffee emporium were double decked on the hooks by the door this morning. Mornings are pretty cool, but after a cup of hot coffee the average feller pays and walks out the door without thinking about a jacket! The thought will occur later in the day and many will come for theirs, but some will look around and shiver in the morning.

Snow in the Rockies, I heard. Grizzly bear will be looking for a hole to winter in soon and that makes me glad I live down here inthe south! The snow and the bear are both out of my liking! We have slipped into the eleventh month of the twelve of the year and that means you are older and so am I. We also gotta get ready for some of the icy stuff cattle producers have to deal with, so find your ice scraper and your coveralls.

I have personally decided to weather this winter without the usual griping and try to enjoy the beauty of the season. All I have to do is find something that I consider pretty. My close relative is gung-ho about fixing the porch up with decorations of turkey stuff, and the only thingI think is pretty about the stuff is the aroma of one in the oven! I still am gonna try to look at the thing with a different eye this year.

The last time I remember seeing trees in the winter, they all looked like skeletons of trees, not pretty. Grass is not green in winter, not pretty. The sky is never dark blue in winter, always sorta faded out blue, not so pretty. I am not so pretty either! Red nose and bundled up to keep from freezing to death, I look like the Yeti in person!

It is my opinion, and everyone has one, the thing to find beautiful isthe thought of the coming holiday season - family and friends, big meals, grands playing in the snow and fuzzy cattle. I do like all of those things and the thoughts of them make me happy. I am sure gonna try to watch for cardinals, blue jays and other swatches of color to brighten my days and beautify the world this winter!

Also gonna look for some change to the economy as green in my pocket would make me see things in a better light!
