Council meeting rescheduled

Numerous items discussed at Committee of the Whole meeting

— Because of Thanksgiving, the Gravette City Council’s regular meeting scheduled Nov. 24 has been rescheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, at the Gravette Civic Center.

A tentative agenda was not available for publication at press time.

Items discussed at the Committee of the Whole meeting last Thursday included reports fromvarious departments and a brief discussion of the proposed city budget for the coming year.

The council heard a presentation by Brian Woodring, water system consultant at Utility Service, a Sherwood, Ark., firm, regarding maintenance of the city’s two older water tanks, one located at Eighth Ave. N.W., the other at Shady Grove Road about four miles west of Gravette.

A “noise” ordinance approved in 1963 wasdistributed for study and possible discussion at a later date. The twopage document defines and limits various noise problems and has fines ranging from $1 to $25 for violations. Glenn P. Corley was mayor when the ordinance was approved.

The council also discussed combining as many as 15 separate bank accounts to simplify bookkeeping and save banking fees. It’s possible the city’s banking will be open for bids.
