The Westside Eagle Observer incorrectly reported, in the Nov. 23 article “Officers to be enrolled in LOPFI,” that Decatur Police Officers hold an average of $15,000 each in their 401K plans. In fact, four of the six officers hold a total of $96,000 in their 401K plans.

In the same article it was reported that back pay for the Arkansas Local Police and Fire Retirement System will not be required after Jan. 1, 2012. The new law will actually not allow officers to receive back pay after Jan. 1.

The Westside Eagle Observer reported that Mayor Charles Linam asked Police Chief Terry Luker to turn in a 2012 budget of at least $20,000 less than the 2011 budget. However, Linam said on Monday that he asked all department heads to make cuts but did notgive Luker any specific numbers.

Linam also said that a proposed park on Hill Street, which will no longer be pursued, would have cost the city $30,000 in matching grant money, not $40,000 as reported by the newspaper.
