— A Gentry couple serving as foster parents was arrested for allegedly abusing a 3-year-old girl in their care.

According to Gentry police, Jacob and Amber Palmer of 509 Cherokee Drive in Gentry were arrested Thanksgiving evening on warrants issued following a Sept. 2 report of abuse to a child in Arkansas Department of Human Services custody who was being cared for in their Gentry home.

The child had bruises from head to toe, police said.

The abuse was discovered when a natural parent was allowed visitation under DHS supervision, police said.

The child was not returned to the home following the abuse discovery.

The Palmers were both charged with felony battery in the second degree, according to police.
