Committee meeting held

— Gravette City Council members held a committee of the whole meeting Sept. 26 to discuss the Gravette wastewater treatment plant. All council members were present for the meeting at city hall.

Discussion at the halfhour meeting centered on the problems with meeting the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality discharge requirements during the winter months. The limits are being met easily at this time.

The city is considering placing a clear span fabric structure over the largest lagoon, creating a “greenhouse effect” and warming the area so requirements can be met. They are in discussion with engineer Joe Tarvin about the plan.

Mayor Warren mentioned the possibility of getting a “green grant” to help finance the “greenhouse effect” cover.
