Annual Quilt Show

Flu Shot Clinic

A flu shot clinic will be held at the Billy V. Hall Senior Activity Center in Gravette today, Oct. 12, from 9 a.m. until noon. A Medicare card is required or $25 is due at the time of the vaccination.

GHS Fields of Faith Event

Gravette High School students will join youth on athletic fields all across America on Wednesday, Oct. 12, to share their Christian faith with fellow students during the sixth annual national Fields of Faith event. This outreach event, held at more than 475 locations throughout the nation, is structured as a student-to-student ministry movement. Peers invite their classmates and teammates to meet on the school’s athletic field to hear fellow students share their testimonies, sing songs and fellowship together. This second Fields of Faith event for Gravette schools is open to all Gravette School District students and surrounding youth groups and begins at 6 p.m. at McAbee Field. FCCLA Chili Dinner

Gravette Middle School FCCLA club will be hosting its first annual chili dinner contest in the middle school cafeteria at 5:30 p.m., Oct. 20. Tickets are $5 each for dinner, drink and dessert. All proceeds go toward helping students with competitions and toward various local charities. A pumpkin carving contest is also planned and contestants can bring in their already-carved pumpkins for judging. Free Quilt/Craft Class

A free class for area quilters/crafters will be held at 12:30 p.m. this Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Gravette Church of Christ annex, 202 Irving St. S.W. Anyone interested is invited. Please bring projects completed or in progress and a snack to share. Members are reminded to bring their friendship blocks to exchange.

Gravette Holiness Revival

The Gravette Church of God (Holiness) is in revival Oct. 11-16. The speaker is Chad Snider, currently the pastor at the Bible Holiness Church in Altamont, Kan., and youth president of the Ochelata Youth Camp. His wife is a teacher at the Independence Bible School in Independence, Kan. The public is invited to attend the services each night at 7:30, and at 10:45 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Sunday. Hannah's Hope Poker Run

A poker run to benefit Hannah’s Hope will be held Saturday, Oct. 22. The run will start from the old Marvin’s parking lot next to O’Reilly’s in Gentry. Registration will begin at 9 a.m., with the last bike out at 10 a.m. Riders should return by 12:30 p.m. The first 50 to sign up will receive a free T-shirt. T-shirts will also be available for purchase. A barbecue lunch will be provided free for all who register and for one entry in the raffle. The raffle will begin at 12:30 p.m. Tickets will be available for purchase for more chances to win. All proceeds will go to Hannah's Hope. Hannah's Hope (helping others pay expenses) provides assistance to families of children with cancer. Miss and Mister Octoberfest Pageants

Gentry's Miss Octoberfest and Little Miss and Mister Octoberfest pageant applications are available on the school website. The pageants are scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 29.

Halloween Celebrations

The cities of Gravette, Decatur and Gentry will hold Halloween activities on Monday night, Oct. 31.

Trunk or Treat

Decatur United Methodist Church will be hosting Trunk or Treat from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Halloween night, Oct. 31. Hot-dogs and candy will be served and games will be available.

GED Classes Resume

GED classes have resumed at the Gravette Public Library, 407 Charlotte Street SE. Classes are held from 5 to 8 p.m. each Tuesday. Class members must be at least 18 years old and seeking a GED. No pre-registration is required.

Gravette Kiwanis

The Gravette Kiwanis Club holds breakfast meetings at 7 a.m. each Fridayat the cafeteria in Ozarks Community Hospital. Guests are welcome.

Glenn Duffy Fall Festival

Glenn Duffy Elementary School will hold its PTOsponsored Fall Festival from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28. Activities will include games, silent auction, chili supper, costume contest and a cake decorating contest. The silent auction is from 5 to 7 p.m.. The costume contest is at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are only 25 cents and all games cost one ticket.

Decatur Food Bank

Living Water Ministries in Decatur opens its food bank each Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at 1148 Highway 102 West in Decatur. Anyone who needs assistance is welcome. Area Men’s Breakfast

The Decatur United Methodist Church has a men’s breakfast the second Saturday of each month, beginning at 8 a.m., at the Gallery Cafe in Decatur. All area men are invited to join the group for good food and Christian fellowship.

Emergency Help

Families in Gravette School District wishing to apply for emergency help with food or utilities may make application from 9 to 11 a.m., Tuesday through Friday, at the Main Street Care and Share store in Gravette.

Mt. Zion Singing

Regular singing will be held at Mt. Zion Church at 6:30 p.m. the fourth Saturday of each month.

‘Singspiration Service’

The Gentry Church of God (Holiness) will be holding a special “Singspiration” service at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 19. The service consists of musical worship and praise. Fellow-Christians are invited to bring a song, reading or poem. The church is located just north of the Gentry police station, at 104 North Collins. Singing Services

Monthly singing services at Falling Springs Church are held at 7 p.m., the first Friday of each month. The church is located northwest of Gentry and west of Decatur on Falling Springs Road.

Decatur Food Pantry

The Decatur United Methodist Church offers a food pantry program and a commodity food program for residents in Decatur on the first and third Thursday of every month, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Men's Fellowship

First Baptist Church of Gentry has a monthly Men's Fellowship Gathering on the third Saturday of each month at 8 a.m. All men are encouraged to come for the food and fellowship. Guests are welcome. For more information, contact Madden Waits at 736-5009.

VFW Meetings

Decatur VFW Post 9834 meets on the first Tuesday of each month - at 7:30 p.m. New members and guests are welcome. The facility is three miles east of Decatur on Arkansas Highway 102, right on Tilly’s Hill Road, and the first building on the right.

Gentry Senior Center

Gentry Senior Activity Center, at 121 East Main Street (just east of the Gentry Public Library) is open from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Meals and rides to the center and activities are available Monday through Friday by calling Jackie Bader, the center’s manager, at 736-0378. Van routes are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday - Gentry, Highfill and Springtown; and Tuesday and Friday - Gentry and Decatur.

Gravette Senior Center

The Billy V. Hall Senior Activity Center, at 1870 Limekiln Road, is open from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Many activities are scheduled and lunch is served every weekday. For information on hot homedelivered meals for Gravette, Decatur and Sulphur Springs, frozen home-delivered meals for Maysville home-bound seniors or other services the center offers, call Mary Kay Kelley, director, at 787-5950.
