GENTRY — Highfill Mayor Stacy Digby was neither charged nor arrested in a shooting incident that occurred Sept. 23 in Gentry.
According to a report from the Benton County Sheriff’s Office, Digby and a 35-year-old woman were “goofing around” with a BB gun.
The woman shot Digby in the leg and the mayor took the gun and shot the woman in the stomach, according to the report. The pellet embedded in the woman’s stomach and she was treated and released at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital.
According to the report, the woman did not want to press charges and the shooting was listed as accidental.
There was no answer at Highfill City Hall on Thursday afternoon and a phone number listed for Digby was disconnected.
