Police to get radar guns with money from grant program

— Gravette's police department is the recipient of a grant which will allow purchase of five new radar guns which will supplement the department’s devices.

The non-matching grant, in the amount of $3,500, comes from an Edward Byrne Memorial Grant program which must be used for safety-related purposes.

Officer David Smith said the department’s aging guns include two that are inoperable and the new devices will complement the five operable guns of the department.

Allyson Ransom, the city’s director of communications, completed the grant application and received word of the grant last week.
