Bulldogs face Danville Little Johns for homecoming game

— The Decatur Bulldogs lost their homecoming game on Friday against the Danville Little Johns.

Danville, which is ranked the number two team in the state in the 2A conference, won Friday'sgame by a wide margin, 42-0.

The win improves Danville’s record to 6-2 in season play. Meanwhile, Decatur’s record dropped to 1-7 overall and 1-5 in conference.

The Bulldogs played better defensively this week, even though it wasn’t reflected in the final score, head coach Stan Holland said.

“I though we played hard. Sometimes you run into bigger, faster, stronger individuals; 45 of them,” Holland said.

The Little Johns dressed 45 players for Fridays game compared to the Bulldogs squad of 16.

Joe Castenada, who wasthe leading tackler of the game with 6 tackles, was named player of the week.

“He played pretty well defensively. Offensively he took care of the ball. He played hard,” Holland said.

The Bulldogs will next face Union Christian Academy - with a record of 2-5 overall - in Fort Smith on Friday.
