— A dedication service for the new Decatur Assembly of God church building is planned for Sept. 11.

The special service, set to begin at 10:30 a.m., will be a celebration of the new 28,000-square-foot building located along west Arkansas Highway 102, according to pastor Kirk Anderson.

Several special speakers, including some of Anderson's mentors, will be making presentations at the service, and everyone involved in the building process will be there, including the members of the building committee, the contractor and possibly the architect, Anderson said.

“We want to invite folks out to come and celebrate with us,” Anderson said.

Ground was broken on the building project last fall. The new building, which will serve youth and children, represents phase I of the church's new campus. It includes a gymnasium and several wings of classrooms. Phase II, to be completed sometime in the future, will be a building containing a sanctuary, offices and more classrooms.

Church services will now be held in the new building, Anderson said. Sunday school begins at 9:30 and Church begins at 10:30 a.m.
