Lucille Lewis

Lucille Lewis, 94, of Gravette, died Aug. 30, 2011, at Highlands Health and Rehab in Bella Vista.

She was born Dec. 2, 1916, in Hiwasse, to Jasper and Stella (Robb) Todd.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard Lewis; brothers Clayton and Howard Todd; and a sister, Ruby Wander.

Survivors include four sisters, Margaret Dryden of Gravette, Radell Burdick of Gilroy, Calif., Valaree Thornhill of Garfield and Audra Evans of Gravette; and one brother, Eugene Todd of Sweet Home, Ore.

Funeral services were Sept. 2, at First Assembly of God Church in Gravette, with burial in Coffelt Cemetery. Arrangements were by Callison-Lough Funeral Home of Bentonville.

Katherine Mortensen

Katherine Jewell Mortensen, 68, of Gentry, died Aug. 31, 2011, at Regency Hospital in Springdale.

She was born Jan. 20, 1943, in Fayetteville, to Clifford and Jewell Sebourn Deen. She was a retired seamstress for La-Z-Boy. She enjoyed gardening, her animals and her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Mortensen.

She is survived by one son, Dennis Wright of Pawnee City, Neb.; two daughters, Sherri Kollman and Lori Wright, both of Gentry; one brother, Weldon Deen of Springdale; and one sister, Joan Baker of Springdale; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were Sept. 6 at Coil Cemetery in Winslow with Don Morrow officiating. Arrangements were by Sisco Funeral Home of Springdale.

Margie Nichols

Margie I. Nichols, 80, of Gravette, died Aug. 24, 2011, at her home.

She was born Oct. 30, 1930, in Benton County, to Elmer and Beulah Swank. She was raised on the farm as a child and helped her father irrigate strawberries in California when she was growing up. She enjoyed gardening and going to pony pulls and tractor shows. She married Lawrence Nichols April 3, 1954, and worked at the poultry co-op for Tyson Foods for 20 years before retiring.

She is survived by three children, Lawrence J. Nichols and wife Lanna of Gravette; Ernest H. Nichols of Bentonville and Billy W. Nichols of Gravette; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A gathering of family and friends was held Sept. 3 at Living Waters United Methodist Church in Centerton. She will be laid to rest next to her mother in Gamble Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements were by Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Bentonville.

Eddie Alvin Philpott

Eddie Alvin Philpott, 68, of Wichita, Kan., died July 30, 2011, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, in Wichita.

He was born April 17, 1943, the eighth child of Luther Rull Philpott and Alva (Morris) Philpott. He graduated from Gentry High School and attended Wichita State University, K-State and KU. He served a tour in the Navy and retired from the Wichita Fire Department.

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister Violet, infant brother James, and brothers Eli Houston and Lee Warren.

Survivors are son, Anthony E Philpott of Douglass, Kan.; sisters Irene McFadin of Colcord, Okla., Mary Sue (Bement) Roberts and husband Roy of Perry, Kan., brother Bobbie Philpott and wife Loretta of Gentry; and five grandchildren.

Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, at Fairmount Cemetery in rural Gentry.

Ivan Walker

Ivan Walker, 71, of Gravette, died Aug. 22, 2011, at Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville.

He was born July 13, 1940, to Bill and Alice Walker in Westville, Okla. He was a lifelong resident of the area and a farmer and cattleman who enjoyed cattle auctions and working on his farms with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son Dean Walker and sister Minnie Lou Garrett.

Ivan is survived by his wife of 50 years, Bonnie Walker; children Justin Walker and wife Rachelle of Sarcoxie, Mo., Angela Walker of Gravette, and Kevin Martin of Gravette; one sister, Betty Starr and husband David of Colcord, Okla.; a niece, Sheila Sanders and son Brandon, also of Colcord.

Funeral services were held Aug. 26 at the Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, with burial in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near Hiwasse. Arrangements were by the Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory, Bella Vista.

Donald Ray Kelly

Donald Ray Kelly, 69 yearold resident of Mason Valley Community, Arkansas, went to meet his heavenly father, September 2, 2011 at John L. McClellan Veterans Hospital, Little Rock, Arkansas. His wife Lynne, children and grandchildren were beside him.

He was born April 5, 1942, in Plains, Kansas, to Homan and Anna Keefe Kelly. He lived in Beaver, Oklahoma, until his family moved to Northwest Arkansas in March 1953. He attended Gentry Schools, graduating in 1960. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1960 and served until 1964 on the USS Bainbridge. Donald married Lynne Gentile in Pembroke, Massachusetts, on July 21, 1962. He returned to Northwest Arkansas from Massachusetts when he departed from the Navy, where he worked as an electrician. He owned and operated Kelly Electric in Siloam Springs from 1980 until his death. Donald loved his family, friends, working, hunting, fishing and his farm.

Survivors include his wife, Lynne of the home; his children, Robin Delano of Rogers, Roxanne Handy of Fort Smith, Larry Silseth of Rogers, Billy Handy of Gentry, Kathi Roberts of Gentry, Mari Wimbish of Van Buren, Donna Kelly of Highfill, and Kim Handy of Pea Ridge; two sisters, Helen Allen of Elm Springs and Carol Chase of Rogers; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Saturday, September 10, 2011 at Wasson Funeral Home, Inc., Siloam Springs, Arkansas with Pastor Bobby Bennett officiating. Burial will follow at Gentry Cemetery, Gentry, Arkansas. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, September 9, 2011 at Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs, Arkansas.
