Benton County Cleanup Day set for Oct. 1

— Area residents are invited to participate in “Benton County Cleanup Day” Saturday, Oct. 1.

The free event will allow individuals to dispose of household hazardous waste, shred documentsand recycle electronics including computers and printers. People will also be able to dispose of bulky household items such as furniture, mattresses, large plastic toys and metal appliances. Up to four passenger tires will be accepted at no charge. A small fee will be charged for more than four tires.

Two locations will be open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. to accept the items: Benton County Road Dept., 1206 SW 14th Street (Hwy. 72) in Bentonville and County Road Dept., 1700 S. Wimpy Jones Road in Garfield.

Hazardous waste items will be accepted only at the Bentonville location. No yard waste, householdtrash, construction or demolition waste will be accepted and they may not be unloaded.

The cleanup is for individuals only. Business or commercial waste will not be accepted.
