Annual Quilt Show

The Gentry Chamber of Commerce will hold its fifth annual quilt show from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Oct. 7-14, at the McKee Community Room in the Gentry Public Library. The deadline to enter quilts is Sept. 29. Entry applications may be picked up at Parks Lumber, Gentry City Hall or the Gentry Chamber of Commerce office on Main Street. Free Quilt/Craft Class

A free class for area quilters/crafters will held at 12:30 p.m. this Saturday, Sept. 17, at the Gravette Church of Christ annex, 202 Irving St. S.W. Anyone interested is invited. Please bring projects completed or in progress and a snack to share.

Blood Drive

Community Blood Center of the Ozarks will hold a blood drive from 5 to 9 p.m., Monday, Sept. 19, at the Church Of God in Christ Mennonite, 10770 N. Bloomfield Road, Gentry. Eligibility requirements include weighing at least 110 pounds, being in general good health and presenting the required identification. Gravette High Parent Teacher Conference

September 20 is Parent Teacher Conference Day at Gravette High School. If parents would like assistance accessing their new grading program, they should visit the Library Media Center from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Those having questions about student grades are asked to visit with their child’s individual teachers.

Gravette UMC Children’s Activities

Gravette United Methodist Church invites all children in grades K-5 to special activities each Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at the church educational building. The evening will start with food, such as pizza or sandwiches, followed by fun activities and Bible stories. All children in the area are invited. For information, call the church, 787-5000.

Springtown Cemetery Association Meeting

The Springtown Cemetery Association will hold its annual meeting at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 27, at the Springtown Community Building. All interested persons are invited.

Weather Spotter Class

A Weather Spotter/Awareness Class hosted by Dan Skoff from KNWA/FOX 24 will be held at the Centerton Fire Department, 755 West Centerton Blvd., in the training room, starting at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 15. Everyone is welcome.

Centerton Apple Days

Centerton Apple Days, sponsored by the Centerton Area Chamber of Commerce, will be Friday, Sept. 16, with Gospel singing in the Centerton City Park, located at 290 N. Main Street, at 6 p.m. A movie, Ben Stillers’ “Night at the Museum,” will be shown in the park at 8 p.m. Lawn chairs are suggested. On Saturday Sept. 17, Centerton will have a full day of activities, starting with a pancake breakfast at the Centerton Fire House, 755 West Centerton Blvd., from 7:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., ($5 per person). A benefitpoker run will be held, with registration beginning at 8 a.m. at the Centerton City Park. The first bikes will leave at 9:30 a.m. Registration fee is $10 and extra hands are $5 each. Lunch will be served to those who participate. The last bike will return by 3 p.m. Gospel singing and booths will be set up at Beckendale Plaza, 401 West Centerton Blvd., from 9 a.m. and until dark.

Gravette Book Fair

On Tuesday, Sept. 20, Gravette High School Library Media Center will host its annual book fair on parent-teacher conference day. The book fair and parent-teacher conference will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Parents are encouraged to conference with their child’s teachers and come to visit the book fair. Moms in Touch

The Gentry Moms In Touch International community prayer group meets at 8 a.m. Wednesdays at the Gentry Christian Church, located at Third and Giles. This group prays for the children and the schools they attend. All women are invited to attend. For more information, contact Dani Cypert, 736-1213.

Kingdom Kids Resume

Kingdom Kids started back up on Wednesday, Sept. 7. All children in grades K-5 are welcome to attend. Meeting time is from 6:30 to 7:45 at Heritage Baptist Church, 307 Fourth Ave., S.W., in Gravette. The Kingdom Kids program has a time for music, Bible, memorization, games and snacks.

Gravette Library “Stuff-A-Sack Sale”

Gravette Public Library is having a September $1 “Stuff-A-Sack Sale.” Fill a regular-size plastic shopping bag with items from the book sale (includinghardback and paperback books, videos, music and audio books) and pay only $1 per bag. The Library will provide bags or patrons may bring their own. There is no limit and the sale runs through Sept. 30.

GED Classes Resume

GED classes have resumed at the Gravette Public Library, 407 Charlotte Street SE. Classes will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. each Tuesday. Class members must be at least 18 years old and seeking a GED. No pre-registration is required.

Gravette Kiwanis

The Gravette Kiwanis Club holds breakfast meetings at 7 a.m. each Friday at the cafeteria in Ozarks Community Hospital. Guests are welcome.

Computers Needed

The Gentry Lions Club is again accepting used computers and laptops to refurbish and give to students who cannot afford one. Machines - up to about 10 years old - are being accepted. Hard drives are reformatted and a lighter Linux OS is installed to replace the existing OS and software. For more information, call Randy Moll at 233-0081.

Decatur Food Bank

Living Water Ministries in Decatur opens its food bank each Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at 1148 Highway 102 West in Decatur. Anyone who needs assistance is welcome. Area Men’s Breakfast

The Decatur United Methodist Church has a men’s breakfast the second Saturday of each month, beginning at 8 a.m., at the Gallery Cafe in Decatur. All area men are invited to join the group for good food and Christian fellowship.

Emergency Help

Families in Gravette School District wishing to apply for emergency help with food or utilities may make application from 9 to 11 a.m., Tuesday through Friday, at the Main Street Care and Share store in Gravette.

Mt. Zion Singing

Regular singing will be held at Mt. Zion Church at 6:30 p.m. the fourth Saturday of each month.

Singing Services

Monthly singing services at Falling Springs Church are held at 7 p.m., the first Friday of each month. The church is located northwest of Gentry and west of Decatur on Falling Springs Road.

Decatur Food Pantry

The Decatur United Methodist Church offers a food pantry program and a commodity food program for residents in Decatur on the first and third Thursday of every month, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Men's Fellowship

First Baptist Church of Gentry has a monthly Men's Fellowship Gathering on the third Saturday of each month at 8 a.m. All men are encouraged to come for the food and fellowship. Guests are welcome. For more information, contact Madden Waits at 736-5009.

VFW Meetings

Decatur VFW Post 9834 meets on the first Tuesday of each month - at 7:30 p.m. New members and guests are welcome. The facility is three miles east of Decatur on Arkansas Highway 102, right on Tilly’s Hill Road, and the first building on the right.

Gentry Senior Center

Gentry Senior Activity Center, at 121 East Main Street (just east of the Gentry Public Library) is open from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Meals and rides to the center and activities are available Monday through Friday by calling Jackie Bader, the center’s manager, at 736-0378. Van routes are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday - Gentry, Highfill and Springtown; and Tuesday and Friday - Gentry and Decatur.

Gravette Senior Center

The Billy V. Hall Senior Activity Center, at 1870 Limekiln Road, is open from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Many activities are scheduled and lunch is served every weekday. For information on hot homedelivered meals for Gravette, Decatur and Sulphur Springs, frozen home-delivered meals for Maysville home-bound seniors or other services the center offers, call Mary Kay Kelley, director, at 787-5950.

Job Fair/Workshop

A job fair and workshop will be held at the Gravette Public Library Sept. 20 and 21. Classes will be held on resume writing and job interviews. Sessions will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is open and free to those from Gravette, Decatur, Gentry and Sulphur Springs. For more information, call the library at 787-6955.
