OCH drug theft lands patients behind bars

— Two patients at Ozarks Community Hospital in Gravette were arrested after it was discovered that a quantity of drugs had been stolen from a crash cart in the hospital.

According to Gravette Police Chief Trent Morrison, hospital authorities reported the theft on Aug. 22 just after it had occurred, between 3:40 and 4 a.m.

Two patients were identified as persons of interest due to their proximity to the crime scene and the opportunity that existed, a Sept. 6 police department release stated.

Officers Danny Henry, Chuck Skaggs and Jeff Turner of the Gravette Police Department located the persons of interest at their residence at 11889 Hwy. 59 South in Gravette.

“During the investigation that followed, 31 vials and boxesof assorted medications were recovered from the suspects’ home,” according to the release.

“Charles Ferguson and Chesney Ferguson confessed to their involvement in the theft of the medications. Chesney Ferguson was cited for theft by receiving and Charles Ferguson was charged with theft of property. He was also held on a failure to appear warrant out of Sulphur Springs,” the release stated.
