One seat contested in school board race

— School board elections are set for Tuesday, Sept. 20, but the only contested race is for the Zone 4 seat, with Randall Bolinger and Kent Swinney on the ballot.

“I think there needs to be some changes in the school system,” Swinney said when asked his reason for seeking the board seat. “I care about kids and want them to get a good education,” he added.

“I’ve got four kids comingthrough - with one having already graduated,” Bolinger said, explaining that he would have children in the system for a number of years. “I want them to get the best education possible. All the kids in the school district should get the best education we can give them,” he said.

Gary Dunlap runs unopposed for the Zone 1 seat; Dani Cypert, Zone 2; Clarence Kreger, Zone 3; Jim Barnes, Zone 5; Coy Cripps, At-large Seat 6; and David Williamson, At-large Seat 7.
