HIGHFILL — Hay Daze, Highfill's annual festival which was scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 24, has been cancelled, according to Mayor Stacy Digby.

A larger festival is being planned for the spring, Digby said.

The small city has had difficulty with attendance at the annual festival because of the many other area festivals and events held each fall.

Though details have not yet been released, Digby said a planning committee is working to move the annual festival to the spring and make it into a larger festival which may draw people into the city from the surrounding area for the activities and live music.
