More money for park trees

— Cargill employees Jason Witt, Laura Vogt, Stephanie Burroughs and Sarah Whipple presented a $1,000 check from the company to Main Street Gentry Chamber of Commerce for the planting of trees in the Gentry City Park.

Also present were Bev Saunders, director of the Gentry Chamber of Commerce; Delia Haak, director of the Illinois River Watershed Partnership, Gentry mayor Kevin Johnston, chamber members Jena Krein, Gary Ruebush and Brandy Stell; Gentry alderman James Furgason; and Scott Carney and David Duncan, representing SWEPCO's Flint Creek Power Plant, a partner in local riparian projects and host of a new tree farm.

The money is addition to a recent Walmart grant for park trees. A check for $8,000 was also presented by Cargill to the Illinois River Watershed Partnership for tree planting throughout the watershed.
