Goat pasture will soon be craft-show venue

— The goats that normally graze a piece of land along County Road 40 will not be present for four days in October so that the fifth annual Spanker Creek Farm Arts & Craft Show can be held.

This year’s event will be from Oct. 12-16, promoter Patti Hide said.

The hours are 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday.

Spanker Creek Farm is located just north of Bentonville and south of Bella Vista on West McNelly Road/Benton County 40, approximately one-halfmile east of Walgreens and Lowe’s.

Hide is expecting around 200 vendors, which is down slightly from last year. She doesn’t have an exact number as she is still accepting applications.

Unlike the Bella Vista show, which requires all materials be handmade by the artist, Hide said her event does allow some commercial vendors to participate.

Along with the arts and crafts will be a host of different food items from which to choose.

Hide said they will have the standard varieties, such as funnel cake and kettle corn, along withsome new items, including a hot dog wrapped in a potato.

“It’s sort of like a corn dog, but with potato,” Hide explained.

While there is no formal entertainment provided, Hide said, every year there is a group of musicians who gather and playbluegrass music for the visitors.

They have no set schedule as to when they will play, she said.

Admission and parking are free.
