Models preparing 'fur' fashion show

— Fashions and Fur will be flying at the annual style show sponsored by the Bella Vista Animal Shelter.

Human models will take to the runway accompanied by dogs awaiting adoption from the shelter.

This year’s event will be somewhat different than last year, animal shelter Director Deidre Knight said, as the canines will not be wearing full costumes.

Also this year, the promoters are considering a champagne and caketype venue instead of a full-fledged luncheon.

Knight said part of the decisions for the show will depend on the sponsors that can be obtained.

The Fashions and Fur style show is scheduled for Nov. 12 at Riordan Hall, with the time to be announced later.

Coldwater Creek has agreed to provide ladies’ fashions.

Knight is still working on obtaining asponsor for men’s clothing.

The women’s clothing store, at Pinnacle Hills Promenade in Rogers, will also have a fundraiser for the animal shelter Sept. 22, store manager April Barnett said.

“If anybody brings money or donates animal supplies, they will receive a coupon for $25 off a $50 purchase,” she said.

The store will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. that day.

The coupon does not have to be used the same day.

Bella Vista Mayor Frank Anderson has agreed to be one of the models in the style show, and Knight is hoping other city officials and business owners will participate.

“It’s a worthwhile event. Without the animal shelter, the city would be hard pressed to take care of all of the dogs running loose,” Anderson said.

Those wishing to become a sponsor or volunteer for the event can reach Knight at 644-6229 or by email to [email protected].
