“Oh how I loveYour law!

It is my meditation all the day.” Psalm 119:97 (read 97-104)

How sad it is that people, often counting themselves wise, neglect the true source of wisdom. The world claims to be filled with knowledge but few really know and understand.

What should we learn from this passage of Scripture? True wisdom, knowledge and instruction is found in God’s Word, the Bible. If we desire to to be wise and gain understanding, the place to go is to the pages of the Bible and to read, study and meditate therein each and every day.

Through the Scriptures, the Spirit of God teaches us (Cf. 1 John 2:27) and reveals to us our sinfulness and shortcomings under God’s perfect law, but He then comforts us with God’s mercy and forgiveness for the sake of the holy life and innocent sufferings and death of the crucified and risen Christ Jesus in our stead.

Thank You, O LORD, for the Holy Scriptures and for the gracious working of Your Spirit to teach and instruct from Your Word. Grant to me a love for the Bible and the desire to read and study its pages that I might be made wise unto salvation through faith in Christ Jesus and be instructed in Your perfect will. In Jesus’ name I pray.

Amen.
