— Friends of the Gentry Library have announced plans for a gala event, themed “Fiesta,” to benefit the Gentry Public Library.

The gala is set for April 21 at the Gentry High School/ Middle School Cafeteria, beginning at 6 p.m.

As in years past, the gala will include auctions, both silent and live, excellent food and entertainment.

The Wooden Spoon will be catering the Mexican dinner.

Entertainment will be provided by local singer Kaylin Cripps and by Mariachi Amistad band. Emcee for the evening will be Marsha Sites.

A photographer will be there to take candid andposed photographs.

Door prizes will be given away throughout the evening.

Silent auction items include gift certificates and gift items from local merchants.

Live Auction items include: Dinner and overnight stay at Cherokee Casino; Antique McCoy Vases donated by Maxine Abernathy; Adirondack Chair made by Ron Jech; Handmade quilts by Janie Parks, Toni Sarratt and Nora Krein; Weekend in Branson donated by Farris Insurance; Laser Treatments donated by Dr. John Huskins; and Dessert-a-Month donated by Donna McBride.

Individual tickets are available through Saturday for $25, with sponsored tables seating eight for $300.

The proceeds from the gala will enable the Gentry Public Library to continue to meet the technology needs of the patrons in Gentry. Contact the library at 736-2054 to purchase tickets and to donate auction items.

“Our goal this year is to raise enough money to join a network of libraries that provide e-books to patrons,” said event organizer Cheryl Smth. “Even though the city provides the money for all operating expenses of the library, we depend on donations to buy books and upgrade technology. We appreciate all the support the community has given us in the past and look forward to what we can accomplish together at our next fundraiser!”
