Pioneers shoot down Blackhawks Monday

— The Pioneers played strong against the Pea Ridge Blackhawks on Monday and were rewarded with a big win in conference play.

Chris Wiand started on the mound for the Pioneers, throwing 86 pitches and picking up another win. He has a 3 and 3 record on the mound forthe season. Tanner Coy relieved him and threw another 26 pitches to keep the Blackhawks at bay.

Gentry jumped ahead from the start, putting three runners across the plate in the first and another in the third. Pea Ridge put single runs on the board in innings four, five and six; but with Gentry adding two again in the fifth, the Blackhawks never came close.

The final score was 6-3 infavor of Gentry's Pioneers.

Gentry players to cross the plate were Wiand, Coy and Kolby Rankin. Coy scored three times, hit one double and picked up an RBI. Rankin had two hits in the game. Tristan Glass had a single hit and also picked up an RBI. Nelson Watson, Josh Sewell and Austin Cochran also had hits in the game.

The Pioneers were scheduled to play Huntsville on Tuesday (after press time).
