Decatur also loses second principal

— Decatur Northside Elementary School Principal Leslie Sharp has submitted her resignation, according to Decatur school superintendent Larry Ben.

Sharp has served as the elementary school principal for the past six years.

Sharp’s resignation follows the resignation of the schooldistrict’s other principal, Bobby King. King resigned his post as principal and athletic director at the high school. After an executive session, King’s resignation was accepted by the school board on March 26.

The Decatur School Board tabled the decision of whether or not to renew Sharp’s con-tract for the 2012-2013 school year at the March 26 meeting and were to make a final decision at the April 16 board meeting.

Sharp submitted a letter of resignation, dated March 30, informing Ben of her resignation, effective at the end of her 2012 contract.

Applications for the Northside Elementary School principal will be taken until May 4,according to the school web site, www.edline.net/pages/Decatur_SD.

An application review committee comprised of elementary school faculty will select a minimum of three and a maximum of six applicants to be interviewed. The applicants will be notified and will be interviewed by a building-level team, followed by a district-level team on May 12. The finalists will be presented to the school board, in a special meeting for approval, on May 14, the website states.
