Hog roast set

— The Maysville Fire Department will hold a hog roast Saturday, May 5, at 6 p.m. to raise funds to purchase new safety equipment, said Darcy Nichols, fire chief.

At the top of the list is purchasing a defibulator, said James Henry, who is publicity chair for the project. “This would bring us into basic safety compliance.”

Henry, pictured, is holding a special metal fire department plaque, one of 20, which is available for a $50 donation. If 20 supporters purchase one, which will make a nice den or rec-room wall decoration, it “would goa long way” toward the project.

For information or to reserve a plaque, call 787-3476 or leave a message at the Maysville fire station, 291-0087.

The department of 10 members now has an EMT on staff, which will be a special help in situations where such expertise is needed.

The Maysville department has three fire fighting vehicles, including a 1976 pumper which has to be retired. The department is hopeful they will be in line for another tanker through the County Fire System.

Maysville department covers a wide rural area which also extends into nearby areas of Delaware County, Okla., and Mc-Donald County, Mo.
