DECATUR — The Decatur Assembly of God fifth and sixth grade Junior Bible Quiz team won fourth place at the state meet on March 30 and 31, qualifying the team to move on to the regional level of competition.
JBQ teams memorize Bible verses and facts and compete in game show style quizzes.
The Decatur team competed with the top 16 JBQ teams in the state during the competition held in North Little Rock. In addition to placing well as a team, team member Amanda Duncan placed fourth individually, with a total of 1,685 points.
The team’s placing qualifies it to advance to the Gulf Region Championship, to be held in Memphis, Tenn.on April 19. The Gulf Region includes Arkansas, part of Missouri, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee.
The top five teams at the regional meet will advance to the national level of competition, to be held in Orlando, Fla.
