— Marjorie Chiles

Marjorie Ann Chiles, 70, of Mansfield, died April 14, 2012, at Sparks Medical Center in Fort Smith.

She was born Dec. 17, 1941, in Cherokee City, to Pete Meeker and Inez King Meeker. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church, Gentry. She married Bert A. Chiles on Sept. 8, 1962, in Gentry.

Survivors include her husband Bert of the home; one daughter, Marsha Floyd and husband Jerry of Broken Arrow, Okla.; one son, William Aaron Chiles and wife Mistie of Fort Smith; seven grandchildren; one greatgrandchild; five siblings, Walt Meeker and wife Sue of Siloam Springs, Elnora Holcomb and husband Jim of Broken Arrow, John Meeker of Tulsa, Okla.; Jim Meeker and wife Marilyn of Siloam Springs, and Diana Jennings and husband Skip of Bella Vista.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 19, at First Baptist Church in Gentry, with Jack Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Smith National Cemetery in Fort Smith. Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, April 18, at Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

Maurice Cooper

Maurice John Cooper, 84, of Gentry, died April 7, 2012, at Siloam Springs Nursing and Rehab.

He was born to Daniel Gerald Cooper and Martha Marie Mohr Copper on Jan. 15, 1928, in San Francisco, Calif. He was a painter and worked in Washington State before moving to Northwest Arkansas. He married Florence Cypert on March 4, 1977, in Seattle, Wash. He was affiliated with the First Assembly of God Church, Gentry.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son; and one step son.

Survivors include his wife Florence of Gentry; one son, Wade Cooper of Seattle, three daughters, Nanette Pickens and husband Chuck of Arlington, Wash.; Lisa Phillips and husband Rick of Woodinville, Wash., and Linda Cooper of Washington State; one brother, Owen Cooper of Sequim, Wash.; two sisters, Jean Heartley of Silvana, Wash., and Janet; one step daughter, Linda Rantz of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; and seven grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, April 22, at First assembly of God Church in Gentry, with Kevin Stowe officiating.

Daniel ‘Dan’ Dickinson

Daniel Edward “Dan” Dickinson, 67, of Siloam Springs, died April 13, 2012, at Fayetteville Veteran’s Hospital, Fayetteville.

He was born July 28, 1944, in Bay City, Mich., to Wesley Harry Dickinson and Laura Gladys Ida Brenay Dickinson. He grew up in Arizona and attended Peoria High School. He retired from the U.S. Navy after serving during the Vietnam War on the USS Hickman County LST-825 and four years with the Seabees, Mobile Construction Battalion 4. He married Ellen Thompson on August 23, 1969, in Surprise, Ariz. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Siloam Springs.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Jean Dickinson Doyle and two brothers, Bob Dickinson and Charles Dickinson.

Survivors include his wife Ellen; one son, Johnathan Richard Dickinson and wife Spring of Rogers; one daughter, Brenda Ivy Kidd and husband Jack of Farmington; 12 grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; three brothers, David Dickinson of Dobbins, Calif., Bill Dickinson of Overland Park, Kan., Phillip “Bud” Dickinson and wife Sherry of Phoenix, Ariz.; two sisters, Charlene Smith and husband Norman of Gentry, and Donna Gardei and husband Bill of Derry, N.H.

Funeral services were April 16, at First Baptist Church, Siloam Springs, with Steve Abbott and Bill Query officiating. Committal was at Fayetteville National Cemetery, Fayetteville. Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.

Hudson Haag

Hudson Lee Haag, infant son of Cody Duane Haag and Lacy Shanea Hagler, of Siloam Springs, was born and died on April 8, 2012, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital, Siloam Springs.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Lori Wood; maternal great-grandmother, Donna Wood; paternal great-grandfather, Charles Ennis; and maternal great-grandfather, James Barger.

Survivors include his mom and dad; one brother, Austin Ennis of Siloam Springs; paternal grandparents, Judy Ennis of Colcord, Okla.; and paternal grandfather, Charles Haag of Oklahoma City, Okla.; paternal great-grandparents, Frances and Bob Hickman of Gentry; maternal greatgrandmother, Sharon Barger of Nebraska; maternal greatgrandmother, Carol LaClair of Georgia, and Roxanna Moye of Ohio.

Graveside services were April 12 at Springtown Cemetery, Springtown, with Larry Ellis officiating. Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

Willis ‘Bob’ Holdridge

Willis “Bob” Holdridge, of Colcord, Okla., died April 13, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center.

He was born July 17, 1934, was a truck driver for 60 years and served in the U.S. Air Force.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra; two children; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

David ‘Cole’ Martinez

David “Cole” Martinez, 21, of Gravette, died April 10, 2012, at the Ozarks Community Hospital in Gravette.

He was born June 27, 1990, in Gravette, to J.R. Martinez and Chris Oxendine Martinez. He lived in Gravette all his life. He was a cook and manager of the Hard Luck Cafe in Gravette.

He is survived by his parents, J.R. Martinez and Chris Martinez of Gravette; two brothers, Steven Martinez and Joey Martinez, one sister, Gracie Martinez, all of Gravette.

A memorial service was held April 13 at the Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel in Bella Vista, with Gary Duke officiating.

Jessica Morretti

Jessica Lyn Morretti, 26, of Gold Hill, Ore., died April 13, 2012, in Medford, Ore.

She was born Feb. 15, 1986. She was the daughter of Joseph and Stacy Morretti of Gentry, and Greg and Lisa Stout of Gold Hill.

She is survived by her parents; two children, Myah Riley and Aubrey Eldridge, both of Oregon; siblings, Justin Morretti, Samantha Snow, Payton Morretti, and Jacie Morretti, all of Arkansas, Tanner Stout and Dakota Stout of Rogue River, Ore.

A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. April 20 at the home of Joseph and Stacy Morretti in Gentry.

Cremation arrangements are being handled in Oregon.

‘Dwight’ Owens

Harold “Dwight” Owens, 74, died April 7, 2012, in Bentonville.

He was born in Mountain View, Mo., on Oct. 20, 1937, to Evan Owens and Evelyn (Clapsaddle) Owens. He was married to Billie (Kennedy) Owens. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, cigars, working in the yard, baseball and watching his son bowl. He graduated from Finley University with a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering. He was a retired business owner.

He was preceded in death by his father; wife; and brother, Dennis Owens.

He is survived by his mother; two sons, Tim Owens of Rogers and Clint and Kerri Owens of Gravette; brother, Curtis Owens of Joplin, Mo.; sisters, Laveda Norton of Joplin, Phyllis Hardcastle of Manchester, Mo., Carol Weaver of Gallatin, Mo., Madelyn Ledgerwood of Claremore, Okla.; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services were April 13 at Calvary Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church, Bentonville. Burial was at the Bentonville City Cemetery.

Leander Prelle

Leander Jess Prelle, 92, of Sulphur Springs, died April 5, 2012.

He was born Oct. 23, 1919, in Lance Creek, Wyo., to Chris Louis and Stella (McNealy) Prelle. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He retired from the Air Force as an aircraft mechanic in 1967 and moved to a farm in Sulphur Springs. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Velma Grace Brackney Prelle.

He is survived by three stepchildren, Donald Brackney, Douglas Brackney and wife Patty, and June Murray, all of Sulphur Springs; 10 step-grandchildren and 14 step-great-grandchildren.

Graveside funeral service was April 10 at the Butler Creek Cemetery in Sulphur Springs with Ray Larkin officiating. Arrangements were by Ozark Funeral Home in Noel, Mo.

Wylie Sparks

Wylie L. Sparks, 79, of Grove, Okla., died April 10, 2012, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital, Siloam Springs.

He was born Jan. 13, 1933, in Elmore City, Okla., to Jay Sparks and Esther Sizemore Sparks. He was employed by the Bella Vista Golf Course as the supervisor of golf equipment. He lived in the Decatur and Rogers area prior to moving to Grove in 1996. He was a graduate of Oklahoma City Capitol Hill School. He enjoyed fishing and was a member of the Independent Baptist Church in Grove.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Edgar Sparks.

Survivors include his wife Wanda Janet Van Dyke Sparks of the home; one son, Mike Sparks of Dallas, Texas; two daughters, Julie Randolph and husband Troy of Lubbock, Texas, and Gayle McDowell of Dallas, Texas; seven grandchildren; three brothers, Gerald Sparks and wife Wilma of Salina, Okla., Kenneth Sparks and wife Jeanette of Tuttle, Okla., and Truitt Sparks of Moore, Okla.; two stepdaughters, Jan Long of Tyler, Texas, and Rhonda Pinter and husband Paul of Tulsa, Okla.; eight stepgrandchildren; and five step- great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were April 14 at the Independent Baptist Church in Grove, with Marty Hughes officiating.
