— Motorcycle riders and Decatur firefighters will be working together to raise money for the Arkansas Children’s Hospital at the Third Annual Wyatt Hopkins Memorial Poker Run, to be held on May 5.

The event is held in honor of Wyatt Hopkins, the son and grandson of Decatur firemen, who received care at the Arkansas Children’s Hospital before his death. A number of other Decatur firefighters’ families have been impacted by the Arkansas Children’s Hospital as well, according to Flynt, and the experiences have inspired the department to find a way to give back to the hospital.

Last year, more than 125 riders and 88 bikes attended the event and raised an estimated $2,000 for the children’s hospital.

This first riders will leave the Decatur Fire Department at 9 a.m. All riders will be expected to return to the Decatur Community Building across the street by 2 p.m. for a barbecue beef sandwich lunch, door prize drawings and entertainment by Matt Davis.

This year the fire department will also raffle off aYamaha V-Star Silverado 650 motorcycle. One raffle ticket will be included in the price of the entry fee and additional tickets are on sale for $5 and may be purchased from any Decatur firefighter or from the Decatur General Store.

Entry fees are $25 for riders and $15 for passengers and includes lunch, a T-shirt and one entry intomotorcycle raffle. Cash prizes will be given to the rider with the best and worst hand. Additional raffle tickets are on sale for $5 and may be purchased from any Decatur fireman or from the Decatur General Store.
