Tired Iron of the Ozarks holds 20th spring show

Wednesday, April 25, 2012

— Once again, the sounds of old engines, antique tractors, hammers clanking against hot iron on anvils and sawmills cutting logs into timbers could be heard at the Tired Iron of the Ozarks show grounds over the weekend.

Things started off slow on Friday, with damp and cold weather in the morning; but Saturday and Sunday were a different story, with many coming out to see the old engines and machinery at work and to visit with otherlovers of engines, tractors and farm equipment.

All-in-all, the 20th annual spring show was one of the best ever, according to Tired Iron president Glenn Smith.

"We had lots of first-time visitors," Smith said, "and Saturday was the biggest ever (in attendance)."

No schools sent students there for field trips this year, but Smith is hoping that will change in the future.

The club meets at 7 p.m. the third Tuesday of each month at the show grounds on Taylor Orchard Road, south of Gentry.
