Maysville E.H. Club holds its July meeting

— The Maysville E.H. Club met July 26 at the Maysville Community Center. Nine members were present for the afternoon meeting. Orpha Wardlaw called the meeting to order and welcomed everyone. Melinda Crawley led the group singing “America the Beautiful.”

After the Pledge of Allegiance, Orpha read "A Prayer for Our Nation" by Billy Graham, and Bert Ballmann read a short story entitled "More than Coincidence."

Orpha showed an address book she had made from recycled photo albums, and Gwen Singleton showed a small portable scanner she uses to scan pictures and documents away from home.

Several helpful hints were given by various members, including some hints on how to save energy.

Katherine Tucker called the roll and everyone answered with their favorite place to eat. Katherine then read the minutes and gave the treasurer’s report, and Sylvia Tucker gave a report on the use of the building. Volunteer hours were turned in to the secretary.

Reminders from the president were the upcoming fair in August, selling tickets for the TV which will be given away Gravette Day, some upcoming workshops and Senior Fun Day at the Community Building.

Old business included making our schedule for hostess and lesson leaders for the upcoming year, discussion of the fair booth MelindaCrawley is planning, and scheduled hours for those who planned to work at the fair. We will also have a booth and sell tickets at the park on Gravette Day.

New business included discussion about the club scrapbook, our new club letterhead, and meeting at IHop August 23 to eat and then travel to the children’s shelter for a tour. We decided to haveanother community yard sale September 29 and will rent booths for $10 and sell snacks. We decided to have an Indian taco dinner October 13 for our fall fund-raiser this year instead of a bean dinner. We are to start saving pennies for a county friendship fund.

Jewel Crawley won the quarter package. The benediction was given and we were dismissed.
