Members added to Gravette staff

— As the August 20 opening day for Gravette school draws nearer, the Gravette School Board, during a special meeting Thursday evening, added three members to the staff.

Kristan Flud was hired as a math instructor for Gravette High School, and Cassondra Beranek was hired as a Pre-K para-professional. The board also added James Brauer to the driver staff which will beoperating the 23-bus fleet as they begin their regular routes on opening day.

Zane Vanderpool, principal at Glenn Duffy Elementary, told the Eagle Observer he anticipates enrollment to increase by 25 in his building when enrollment settles down after the first few weeks.

Kindergarten enrollment currently stands at 115 students, and 55 children have enrolled in the pre-K classes. Pre-K can accommodate fiveadditional students to reach its maximum allowed enrollment.

Enrollment at the end of classes last spring totaled 319 students in grades kindergarten, one and two.

Meet the Teacher Night will be held at Glenn Duffy Elementary August 16 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Vanderpool is encouraging parents to visit the school with their children that evening to familiarize themselves with the building, as well as meet the teachers and staff.
