NWA Hot Shots took second in World Series

— The NWA Hot Shots, a 12-U USSA fast-pitch softball team, played at the World Series in Kansas City on July 11-15 and, going into the semifinals, were undefeated.

The Hot Shots were joined by four other teams from Northwest Arkansas and Central Arkansas. The tournament hosted over 130 teams from Arkansas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Missouri and Kansas.

After playing seven games, the Hot Shots were undefeated until entering the semifinals on the final day. Theloss came late on the final day when X-treme Force from DeQueen won the championship.

Gravette player Lindsey Sharp played the season with the travel team from Bentonville.

Practicing and playing softball five to six days a week became a very big part of her life this year. Having played in over 60 games this season, Lindsey had the opportunity to practice and learn many new offensive and defensive skills.

Season Record

The NWA Hot Shots played in twelve weekend tournaments andweekly double hitters on Tuesday nights.

The team traveled and played in Farmington pre-season against local teams. The team ended the season placing first or second in six of the 12 tournaments.

The team placed second at the St. Patty’s Bash on March 17, second at the April Bash on April 14, second at the Northwest Arkansas Shootout on May 19, second place at the X-Treme Summer Showdown on June 2, and second at the World Series on July 15. The NWA Hot Shots won the Ozark Open on May 5, 2012.
