Enrollment holds steady

— Gravette schools showed an increase of only two students, 1,851 on opening day Monday, compared to 1,849 students last August, according to individual building reports.

Enrollment at Glenn Duffy Elementary Monday totaled 134 in kindergarten compared with 120 last year; first grade 128 this year compared with 121 last year; and128 in second grade compared with 131 last year. Pre-kindergarten enrollment is 60 students.

Upper Elementary enrollment includes 125 in third grade this year compared with 118 last year; 132 in fourth grade compared with 153 last year; and 146 in fifth grade compared with 133 last year.

Enrollment in Gravette Middle School grades includes 145 in grade 6 comparedwith 162 last year; 163 in grade 7 compared with 143 last year; and 141 in grade 8 compared with 151 last year.

There are 170 ninth graders enrolled in high school this year compared with 180 last year; tenth grade 163 compared with 140 last year; 133 in grade eleven as compared with 124 last year; and 103 seniors, down from the 127 last year.

Enrollment figures fluctuate during the opening week of school and an accurate tabulation will officially be taken on October 1.

Gentry estimated firstday enrollment at 1,415 in the district but hadn't released a firm count at press deadline.

Decatur numbers were estimated at 200 in the high school and 358 in the elementary school, for a total of 558, including 39 pre-school students.
