Christmas parade, Santa visit set for Saturday

— Saturday promises to be a busy day on Gentry’s Main Street, with afternoon visits from Santa and the annual Gentry Christmas parade setfor the early evening.

“It’s a Wonderful Life” is the theme of this year’s Christmas celebration.

The parade, set for 6:30 p.m., will commence at the intersection of Railroad Ave. and Main Street and travel west down Main Street tothe Gentry City Park.

The parade promises floats from area churches, clubs, organizations and businesses, along with music, cars, trucks, horses and more. Though he may not be in his sleigh, Santa Claus himself will be in the parade.

No pre-registration or cost is required for entries in the parade. There will be float awards for the best music, best theme representation, best lights and a grand prize for the best overall float. Entries of all kinds are encouraged tomake this year’s parade the biggest and best ever.

Before the parade, Santa will be at the Gentry Chamber of Commerce building, 212 East Main Street, visiting with children and hearing their Christmas wish lists. Hours for children tovisit Santa are from 3 to 6 p.m. Each child will receive a bag of special treats during the visit.
