Students at Decatur Northside Elementary School will get to experience the pride and joy of giving this holiday season, thanks to the school’s Christmas shop. The small store, which will be open Dec. 10 to 17, offers toys and other gifts children can buy for their friends and families in the price range of $1 to $7. In addition to being able to buy presents on their own to surprise their parents and siblings, students also learn practical skills such as counting money and budgeting, according to school secretary Sue Verser, who organizes the shop. Parents are welcome to visit the shop, and donations of new and gently used items, other than clothing, are being accepted.
