Concert set Thursday

— An upcoming winter band concert will feature the music and artwork of Decatur middle and high school students.

The concert will be held at 7 p.m., Dec. 13, in the Northside Elementary School cafeteria.

It will begin with a performance by the sixth gradebeginning band, which will be playing a mix of Christmas and non-Christmas tunes such as “Ode to Joy,” “Aura Lee,” “Jingle Bells,” and “Up on the Housetop,” according to band teacher Kristin Wages. The high school choir is scheduled to sing a few numbers after the sixth grade band.

The high school symphonic band has also prepared a nice lineup for the evening, including “The Nutty Nutcracker,” “All Through the Silent Night,” and “Winter Wonderland.”

During the two brief intermissions, an art walk/ gallery will take place, featuring the artwork of Decatur students.

Admission to the concert is free and open to the public.
