Tuba player makes all-region band

DECATUR — Tim Skaggs, a seventh grade student at Decatur High School, made first band, seventh chair tuba in the 2012 Junior High All-Region Concert Band.

Over 20 tuba players tried out for the all-region band. Only 16 were chosen: Eight in the honor band and eight in the symphonic band.

Skaggs was the only seventh grade student to make the all-region band. All of the other performers are eighth and ninth grade students, according to Decatur band teacher Kristin Wages.
