— The junior Bulldogs won their conference game against the Mountainburg Dragons on Thursday with a score of 36-30.

The win gave the team a conference record of 4-3 and a season record of 9-11.

Meng Vang was the leading scorer of the game with 9 points and 7 rebounds.

The team forced a lot of turnovers and made a lot of “hustle points,” according to Decatur basketball coach John Unger.

“Those kids play really hard. They’re fun to coach and fun to watch. I’m definitely excited about the future with them,” said Unger.

The senior high Bulldogs lost to the Mountainburg Dragons 46 to32 during Friday’s conference game.

The team played really well and rebounded well, Unger said. They did a good job of coming together as a team after their win last week but scored on a low percentage of shots.

“It’s hard to win a game like that,” Unger said.

Unger said he did see an improvement in the team’s confidence and strength.

The Lady Bulldogs lost Friday’s conference game against Mountainburg 68-8.

Coach Larry Claphan said he saw improvement in the team’s rebounding. However, there were 31 turnovers in the game, giving the other team ample opportunity to score, he said.

“I was pleased with their rebounding. Playing a solid team like that, there’s no room for error,” Claphan said.
