Lions Golf Classic plans under way

— Springlike temperatures during the past several weeks have resulted in more than the normal number of duffers on the greens at area golf courses.

Perhaps they’ve been honing their driving and putting skills to compete in the Tenth Annual Gravette “Lions” Golf Classic scheduled later this spring.

Sponsored by the Gravette High School Boosters, the annual event will be open to all men and women golfers at the classic scheduled Saturday, May 5, at Bella Vista Scotsdale Golf Course.

During the past nine years, the classic has raised thousands of dollars which support Gravette High School activities, including athletics, drama, vocal and instrumental music, HOSA and cheerleading at the school.

In addition, the Boosters award numerous academic achievement awards to students, said John Edwards, Gravette school board member and booster. He and fellow board member Jack Skillett are again sponsoring the project.

The classic is limited to the first 144 entries (men or women) who will be competing for prizes, favors and fellowship as they again support this 10th annual project.

Sponsorships by corporations, businesses and individuals are being solicited. They are directed to the Gravette School Foundation, a tax deductible entity.

Entry forms and sponsorship information are available at the high school office and at all Bella Vista golf courses. Or you may contact Edwards at 876-1192 or, later this month, Skillett at 876-6841.
