Dustin “Dusty” Cook

Dustin Warren “Dusty” Cook, 28, of Jacksonville, Fla., died Feb. 2, 2012, at his home.

He was born April 28, 1983, in Gravette to Donald Lee Cook and Patsy Lynn Knox Cook. He lived in Northwest Arkansas in his early childhood. He was a graduate of Sumter High School in Sumter, S.C., and a 2007 graduate of The Citadel. He was employed as a financial analyst for Merrill Lynch in Jacksonville.

He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Charley and Leona Knox; and paternal grandfather, Warren Cook.

Survivors include his parents, Donald Lee Cook and Patsy Lynn Knox Cook, of Altus, Okla.; one brother, Brent Cook and wife Crystal of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sisters, Kaci Harrison of Abilene, Texas, and Cindy Gipson and husband Dallas of Mt. Vernon, Va.; and paternal grandmother, Betty Cook of Decatur.

Services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, Feb. 10, at First United Methodist Church, Decatur, with Russ Hall and Frank Cook officiating. Arrangements are by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

Mary Drain

Mary M. Drain, 71, of West Fork, died Jan. 29, 2012, at Circle of Life Hospice House in Springdale.

She was born July 3, 1940, in Gentry, to Roy and Edna Allen Martin. She attended White Rock Light of Faith Church and had retired from Tyson Foods in 2000. She enjoyed camping, traveling, making quilts and spending time with her children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, one sister, one grandson and one greatgrandson.

Mary is survived by her husband, Jimmy Drain of the home; three daughters, Edna Cook of St. Joseph, Mo., Donna Jump and Roy of Pea Ridge, Tammy Fletcher and Franklin of Pea Ridge; one son, Sammy Branham of Anderson, Mo.; one stepdaughter, Tina Hayes of Kimberling City, Mo.; three brothers, LeRoy Martin of Avoca, Jimmy Martin of Centerton and Charley Martin of Rogers; five sisters, LaVonne Poindexter of Siloam Springs, Darlene Kaufelt of Watts, Okla., Laveta McCalister of Rogers, Georgie Mc-Garrah of Springdale andJosie Mounce of Siloam Springs; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Feb. 1 at White Rock Light of Faith Church, with H.M. Shipp officiating. Burial followed at Brannon Mountain under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home.

Helen Carpenter Sawyers

Helen Dwane Carpenter Sawyers, 86, of Springfield, Mo., formerly of Gentry, died Jan. 31, 2012, at Christian Health and Rehab in Springfield.

She was born Nov. 4, 1925, in Covington, Okla., to William Wesley Lee and Cleo Dwane Power. She was co-owner of Carpenter’s Store in Gentry. She was affiliated with St. John’s United Methodist Church. She married Robert Deane Sawyers in 1984 .

She was preceded in death by one brother, William Wes Lee, and one sister, Lois Douglas, and her first husband, Dale Carpenter.

Survivors include her husband Bob of the home; four daughters, Dianne Beal of Hobbs, N.M., Raylene Whitaker of Fayetteville, Susie Braden of Plain Dealing, La., and Royce Lee Smithof Midwest City, Okla.; seven grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were Feb. 2 at Campbell United Methodist Church, Springfield, Mo.

Donald Wells

Donald J. Wells, 74, of Sulphur Springs, died Feb. 3, 2012, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale.

He was born March 21, 1937, in Sulphur Springs, to James and Mary (Andrews) Wells. He was a truck driver, roofer and tree trimmer for most of his life. He was known as “Big Don” to most.

He is survived by his son, Donald Lynn Wells of Gravette; two daughters, Kathy J. Wells and Barbara Wells Kidd, both of Hutchins, Texas; two brothers, Earnest Wells, of Sulphur Springs, and Bobby Wells, of Goodman, Mo.; two sisters, Ada White, of Noel, Mo., and Thelma Driver, of Bartlesville, Okla.; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at the GAR Cemetery, Sulphur Springs, on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012, at 11 a.m.

Arrangements are by the Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory, Bella Vista.
