— The Decatur Bulldogs defeated the Colcord (Okla.) Hornets 38-32, during a non-conference game in Colcord on Feb. 7.

It was the second win of the season for the Bulldogs, who narrowly lost to the Hornets during overtime the last time the two teams met.

Decatur's head basketball coach, John Unger, said that all his players fought hard and played with focus, determination and confidence in a tough environment.

"It was a glimpse of what they can be," he said.

The score went back and forth throughout the game, but the Bulldogs took control of the ball during the last couple of minutes of the game, making several free throws down the stretch and keeping a six-point lead.

Freshman Victor Urquidi scored 18 points during the game, and his twin brother Mario Urquidi scored 13 points.

"Victor wasn't going to let us lose. He played with strength and confidence," Unger said.

He explained that it is his goal for all his players to have that focus and awareness of what is going on around them all the time.

"I think we are headed in the right direction," he said.

The Lady Bulldogs lost 66-19 to the Hornets on Feb. 7.
