U.S. Marshals arrest absconding fugitive

— Deputies with the United States Marshals Eastern Oklahoma Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force, along with help from deputies out of the Western District of Arkansas, Arkansas State Police, and Arkansas Probation and Parole, arrested fugitive Mark Odale Pack in Siloam Springs on Thursday. Pack was wanted out of Adair County (Okla.) on two counts of allegedly pointing a firearm at an Adair County deputy.

On Jan. 7, an Adair County deputy attempted to make contact with Pack and, as the deputy approached, Pack allegedly pulled a gun as he fled from the deputy, a United States Marshals Service (USMS) press release states. The deputy fired a single shot at Pack but did not hit him, according to the USMS.

A manhunt was immediately conducted by members of the Eastern Oklahoma Violent Crimes Task Force, Adair County Sheriff’s department, Oklahoma Highway Patrol, and U.S. Marshals out of the Western District of Arkansas but without locating Pack, the release states.

Gentry Police were on alert following the Adair County incident because Pack had a former association with a Gentry area resident.

On Feb. 9, information was received by U.S. Marshals that Pack was in the Siloam Springs area. Deputies were able to locate Pack and take him into custody without incident, the release states.

Pack was a parole absconder in Arkansas, according to the USMS.

The Task Force, which is led by deputy U.S. Marshals from the EasternDistrict of Oklahoma, covers 26 counties and is comprised of fulltime and part-time state, county, and local officers from agencies located throughout the Eastern District of Oklahoma.

The mission of the Task Force is to bring the resources of all the agencies involved together to help apprehend violent criminals and to assist other federal, state and local agencies that request assistance. Over 500 felony warrants were cleared in 2011 by the task force.
