Leroy Edward Lamphear

Leroy Edward Lamphear, 77, of Gentry, Ark., died Feb. 13, 2012, at his home.

Born July 28, 1934, in Cherokee City, Ark., he was the son of Burl Lamphear and Opal Hall Lamphear. He was a graduate of Gentry High School. Leroy was a stock farmer and raised Charolais cattle. He was a line supervisor for Plus Poultry for a number of years and more recently was an inspector for the USDA. He was a former member of the Colcord Riding Club, and for the past 30 years was the Board Chairman for Dickson Cemetery. On July 27, 1952, he married Lois Dickson. Leroy was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. Survivors include his wife Lois of the home; one son, Bill Lamphear and wife Rita of Cherokee City, Ark.; two grandchildren Daniel Lamphear and wife Melody of Rogers, Ark. and Brenda Turner of Gentry, Ark.; two great-grandchildren, Gage Turner and Zoe Turner, both of Gentry; one sister, Barbara West of Jay, Oklahoma; and one brother, Delbert Lamphear, of Decatur, Ark.

Pallbearers will be Larry Hughes, Dow Ray Hughes, Roy Hughes, III, Rick Parker, Harold Calvert, and Jeff Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be Donald Amos, Floyd Norris, Fred West, Kyle Nichols, Jason Nichols, and Mark Martin.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012, at Wasson Memorial Chapel, Siloam Springs, Ark., with Rev. Tim Cypert officiating. Burial will follow at Dickson Cemetery, Cherokee City, Ark. Visitation was from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012, at Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs, Ark.. Rod Bumgardner

Rod William Bumgardner, 46, of Sulphur Springs, died Jan. 31, 2012, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville.

He was born Feb. 11, 1965, in Lincoln, Ill., to James Franklin Bumgardner and Edith Marie (Hoffert) Bumgardner. He was raised in Princeton, Mo., and lived in Sulphur Springs since 1981. He enjoyed fishing, camping, playing horseshoes and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughter, Crystal Bumgardner of Gravette; two grandchildren;

his father, of Aurora, Mo.; two sisters, Robin Bumgardner of Sulphur Springs, and Pam Beasley and husband Jim of Gruver, Texas; and a brother, Todd Bumgardner of Sulphur Springs.

Arrangements were by Ozark Funeral Home in Noel, Mo.

Virginia Chesnut

Virginia Pearl Chesnut, 79, of Gentry, died Feb. 10, 2012, at the home of her son in Ringgold, Ga.

She was born Dec. 7, 1932, in Gentry, to Clark Evilsisor and Pearl Shafer Evilsisor. She moved to Gentry from Missouri in 1957. She worked as a grocery store clerk and a school bus driver. She was a member of the Gentry Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Bruce Chesnut of Ringgold, Dean Chesnut of Haven, Kan., and Keith Chesnut of Longmont, Colo.; one daughter, Nileta Jackson of Watts, Okla.;

12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 16, at Flint Cemetery, near Gentry. Arrangements are by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

Barbara Heckman

Barbara Jeanne Heckman, 81, of Bella Vista, died Feb. 8, 2012, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale.

She was born Jan. 2, 1931, in Winfield, Kan. She worked at Walmart as the executive secretary to Jack Shewmaker and was a member of Bella Vista Community Church.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Vivian Shook.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Donald Lee Heckman; one daughter, Cynthia Ploszay of Vero Beach, Fla.; four sons, Mike of Killeen, Texas, Greg of Knoxville, Tenn., Ron of Gravette, Pat of Clearwater, Kan.; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were Feb. 11 at Bella Vista Community Church with Jeff Reed officiating.

Arrangements were by Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services of Rogers.

Ronnie Philpott

Ronnie O’Dell Philpott, 74, of Gentry, died Feb. 13, 2012, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital, Siloam Springs.

He was born Jan. 23, 1938, in Decatur, to William Ben Philpott and Goldie Faye Rutherford Philpott. He was a lifelong resident of Gentry and worked for 50 years at Peterson Industries in mechanical maintenance. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed ball games with his kids and grandchildren. He married Shirley Asher in Miami, Okla. on July 6, 1956. He was a member of First Christian Church, Gentry.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, Will Martin; his parents; five brothers; and four sisters.

Survivors include his wife of the home; three sons, Mike Philpott and wife Nellia, and Larry Philpott, all of Gentry, and Greg Philpott and wife Tonia of Siloam Springs; one daughter, Debbie Martin and husband Jimmy of Gentry; six grandchildren; one greatgrandchild; and siblings, Lonnie Philpott, Lannie Philpott,James Philpott, Dewayne Philpott, Dwight Philpott, Wilma Hays and Carol Miller.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Friday, Feb. 17, at Wasson Memorial Chapel, Siloam Springs, with Richard Hogan and Jim Whisenant officiating.

Burial will follow at Springtown Cemetery, Springtown.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 16, at Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

Barney "Joker" Wilkerson

Barney Leon “Joker” Wilkerson, 86, of Colcord, Okla., died Feb. 8, 2012, at Quail Ridge Living Center, Colcord.

He was born May 26, 1925, in Pawhuska, Okla., to Jay Hugh Wilkerson and Christina Bishop Wilkerson. He was a lifetime resident of the Colcord area and an Army veteran of World War II, taking part in the Normandy invasion as an infantryman. He was a farmer and raised turkeys and stock cows. He was a former member of the Union Grange and enjoyed fishing and camping. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Colcord.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Marie Jackson Wilkerson; four brothers; and three sisters.

Survivors include one son, Butch Wilkerson and wife Brenda of Colcord; one granddaughter; one great-grandson;

one brother, Kenneth Wilkerson of Kansas, Okla.; and one sister, Maxine Larmon, of Colcord.

Funeral services were Feb. 11 at Wasson Memorial Chapel of Siloam Springs with Greg Baskin officiating. Burial was at Row Cemetery, Colcord.
