Ben, Kelly in running for Pea Ridge post

— Decatur superintendent Larry Ben and Gravette superintendent Andrea Kelly are in the running to be considered for the top spot at Pea Ridge schools.

A pool of 41 candidates was narrowed to eight finalists and six alternates, according to Paul Hewitt, aide to the school board.

Hewitt and Roland Smith, interim Pea Ridge superintendent, narrowed the list of candidates and presentedthe selected ones to the board last week.

Ben was listed as one of eight finalists for the position of Pea Ridge superintendent and Kelly was listed as one of six alternates.

Kelly recently announced her resignation from Gravette Schools. Ben was hired as superintendent of the Decatur School District in 2010 to replace state-appointed superintendent LeRoy Ortman, who guided the district out of fiscal distress.
