Ben offered new contract

DECATUR — Decatur School Board members voted to offer superintendent Larry Ben a twoyear contract at Monday’s meeting.

School board members Ike Owens, Aaron Owens, Darleen Holly and Kevin Smith voted on the motion to renew Ben’s contract after a 30-minute executive session. Board member Justin Thompson was not present.

Board members offered Ben an annual salary of $90,000 for the next two years. According to the school website, his current salary is $87,000. The offer is open to acceptance for the next thirty days, according to the motion.
