— Gravette School District voters last Tuesday overwhelmingly approved two improvement projects - construction of a new classroom addition to the Gravette middle school and two ball fields at the high school campus complex.

A total of 376 votes were cast in favor of the measure with only 59 opposition ballots.

More than 85 percent of voters in the special election gave approval to the project which will involve refinancing existing bonded indebtedness. This, coupled with a one-time stateturnback of approximately $1 million and utilizing more than $800,000 of existing school savings, will result in no increase in district millage rates.

Millage will remain at the present 37.2 mills for the district which encompasses much of northwest Benton County, the Hiwasse area and the Highlands area of Bella Vista.

Voters were able to cast ballots at Gravette, Bella Vista, Hiwasse and Sulphur Springs. Vote totals by precinct were not available on the county website.

The Gravette School Board was scheduled to meet Monday night of this week to proceed with details of the project.
