Decatur FCCLA headed to state competition

— The Decatur Family, Career and Community Leaders of America team placed second in two events during the district competition in December, qualifying them for the state level of competition.

The Decatur FCCLA team won second place in the Parliamentary Procedure event at the District 1 STAR Event on Dec. 7, at the Jones Center in Springdale. Decatur senior Fatima Vazquez also won second place individually in the Recycle and Redesign event the same day.

STAR Events are FCCLA competitions where students can win medals, scholarships and money if they continue to the national level.

Decatur FCCLA members will compete atthe State STAR Event on March 1, at the Arkansas Expo Center in Conway.If they place first or second at the state level, they will qualify to goto the national convention in Orlando, Fla., this July.
